The Global Combat Open is the third of the four <i>major</i> tournaments for Global Combat.
As this name suggests, this would be an open tournament, in that it would be open to anyone who wanted to join it. There would however be a handful of automatic bids given out though, to be discussed later. The format of this tournament would be a 56 player tournament, with the first round being made up of eight 7-player games, from which one player would advance. The following rounds would all be 1v1 matchups.

<br>Automatic bids would be given to:
<br>(x) All previous winners of the Global Combat open who are still active (of which there currently are none, since this is the first ever run through this tournament
<br>(3) All winners of Major tournaments in the last Major Cycle (players to qualify under this rule are: <i>tcthemachine, crom and bdstrange</i>
<br>
<br>The remainder of the bids would be based on who signed up for the tournament fastest, with a minimum rating of 9000 and 50 wins the lower limit to qualify for entry to this tournament.
<br>
<br>Once the tournament is filled to satisfaction, we ask that you please observe the following rule: <b>under no circumstances should the turn be forced prior to 72 hours having elapsed since either the start of the game or the end of the previous turn</b>. Players caught violating this rule will be asked to forfeit immediately, and if this is refused, they will have the game forfeited for them by an admin.

<br>That being said, please try to complete your turns as quickly as possible, since the longer this tournament takes, the longer it will be until the next <i>Major</i> can begin.
